Who Is Maria

She is a true artist who knows how to best compliment her clients in styles created to express their unique personalities.

Make up Artistry was her first love.  Growing up with a mother who was a make up artist and hair stylist, Maria’s passion as an artist began at an early age. 

At the age of five she began doing hair and make up on her mothers manikin heads and her own Barbie dolls.  By the age of ten she was practicing on her sisters, cousins, Grandmother, and young aunts.  At the age of sixteen she had accelerated her skills and began doing make up on female impersonators in downtown Portland Oregon.

Maria evolved into a make up artist in demand for photo shoots, print and commercial work.   

Now as a stylist she incorporates her make up artistry into every aspect of her full work in the salon

 Maria works with all types of hair textures implementing current techniques to achieve endless results. Her Vast knowledge of color, cutting, retexturizing, event styling and extensive product knowledge makes her one of the industries best.

She provides full service styling and barbering to a diverse range of clientele, always focusing on her client's satisfaction, specializing in Make Up Artistry, Haircutting, Thermal Straightening, Special events styling,and hair extensions,along with other spa services. 

Maria has also been an educator for Mt Hood community college as a cosmetology instructor (http://www.mhcc.edu/pages/229.asp) and and at Image Designers college of cosmetology (imagedesigners.net).  She is teaching advanced makeup application & air brush make up along with an introduction to special effects make up.  

Being an educator has helped her strive and achieve top quality work and service. She is in a never ending competition with herself proving that there is always room for improvement no matter how skilled and talented she already is.

With great listening and communication skills, she can personalize a look that’s right for you.  Whether in her class, or in her styling chair, you will be motivated by Maria's genuine enthusiasm for the art of creating image through shape.

In addition, Maria has been offering her clients a realistic and holistic approach to     skincare. Her active participation in continual education focusing on all aspects of skin care and the beauty industry helps Maria to provide her clients with unparalleled results. She says, "I love my work because I know I can make a difference in how people feel about themselves and how they look." This is her core philosophy and why she appreciates the opportunity to redirect the client that wants to look and feel different and better than when they arrived for their appointment.
